How Long Does a Cargo Ship Take to Travel From China to the United States?



The time it takes for a cargo ship to travel between China and the United States is determined by the route taken and the ship’s speed. These travels often take between two weeks and a month to accomplish.

Handling, customs, and other procedures, in addition to the time it takes to physically traverse the Pacific, can add significantly to the time it takes to move goods across the Pacific. Preparing a package for transit can take up to 33 days, and once the ship arrives in the United States, it can take another six days before the cargo is released.
