In Texas, a class C driver’s licence permits you to drive a vehicle with a GVWR of less than 26,001 pounds and tow a farm trailer with a GVWR of less than 20,000 pounds. A class C driver’s licence also allows you to operate a vehicle with a maximum capacity of 23 passengers.
Unless exempt, vehicles with a passenger capacity of 16 to 23 require a Class C CDL to operate. In Texas, a class C driver’s licence allows persons to operate any vehicle that is not classified as Class A or Class B. Individuals who are exempt from or do not need to obtain a commercial driver’s licence are awarded Class C licences.
