The film “Eragon” was never followed by a sequel. In 2007, the original film’s director, Stefen Fangmeier, stated that while he had a plan in place for the sequels, he was unsure what would happen.
“I guess we’ll know after opening weekend,” Chrisopher Paolini, creator of “Eragon,” remarked when asked about the likelihood of a second film adaptation.
“Eldest” is the second instalment in the Inheritance Series, a fantasy novel series.
Critics, both those who liked and disliked the film, were sceptical from the start that the studio behind “Eragon” would create a series based on the Inheritance Series.
