The Amana Corporation, which is owned by the Whirlpool Corporation, manufactures Amana washing machines. Whirlpool Corporation also makes and sells appliances under the Whirlpool, Maytag, and KitchenAid brands.
The Amana Corporation began in Middle Amana, Iowa, in 1934 as the Electrical Equipment Company. The company was purchased by Goodman Global in 1997, and Amana’s home appliances segment was sold to Maytag in 2002. As of 2015, Goodman Global still owns and manufactures Amana air conditioners and heaters.
In 2006, Whirlpool purchased Amana’s home appliances division, as well as the rest of Maytag. According to the Whirlpool Corporation, Amana appliances are an economical and energy-efficient addition to the Whirlpool product portfolio.
