Although there is no clear record for the longest football throw in history, many think that former NFL quarterback Vinny Testaverde’s 80-yard throw in the 1988 “Quarterback Challenge” tournament wins the honour. The NFL does not record statistics on actual pass distances, and there is no such Guinness World Record.
Former Heisman Trophy winner Testaverde spent 21 years in the NFL with the Buccaneers, Browns, Ravens, Jets, Cowboys, Patriots, and Panthers. The two-time Pro-Bowler was known for his extraordinarily strong arm, throwing 275 touchdown passes and more than 46,000 yards in his career. Ironically, he led the league in interceptions four times, with 35 in 1988 ranking second all-time in the NFL.
