James Arness, Dennis Weaver, and Amanda Blake, who starred in Gunsmoke, died in 2015. These performers played the roles of Matt Dillon, Chester Goode, and Kitty Russell, respectively. Milburn Stone, Glenn Strange, and Ken Curtis were among the cast members who died.
Only Burt Reynolds, Buck Taylor, and Roger Ewing remain from the original “Gunsmoke” cast. Reynolds first debuted on Gunsmoke in 1962 as Quint Asper, a mixed-race blacksmith who frequently supported Sheriff Matt Dillon in his responsibilities. Reynolds was on the show for three seasons in all.
“Gunsmoke” is the longest-running live-action drama in American television history, having aired 635 episodes over 20 seasons. From 1955 to 1975, CBS produced new programmes.
